National Records and Information Management Development Committee

To develop, coordinate, and oversee the implementation of national Records and Information Management policies, standards, and frameworks that transform public sector performance and preserve the nation's memory.

Welcome to the NRIMDC!

The National Records and Information Management Development Committee (NRIMDC) provides leadership in developing national standards and consistent records and information management practices across all government agencies in Vanuatu.

Records and Information Management is an essential aspect of good governance that supports development, strengthens policy planning, and improves decision-making impacting the wellbeing of communities in Vanuatu.

The Government of the Republic of Vanuatu recognizes that Records and Information Management (RIM) has the potential to transform the work of the public service. The NRIMDC was established to provide national leadership in setting RIM standards and ensuring consistency across all government agencies.

Our committee brings together representatives from a range of government departments, recognizing that all agencies—as creators and custodians of information and records belonging to the citizens of Vanuatu—have a significant contribution to make to better governance through excellence in records and information management.

We are committed to supporting the national vision of an "Educated, Healthy and Wealthy Vanuatu" through robust information management practices.

Establishment of the NRIMDC

National policies on ICT development, Archives, and the Right to Information have been developed, approved, and are now being implemented across Vanuatu. A critical enabling factor to the success of these policies—and indeed to better governance in general—is the effective management of information and records created and held by the Government.

In this context, and as part of the ongoing comprehensive effort to establish robust standards and a more responsive public sector, the Vanuatu Government recognised the need for a comprehensive Records and Information Management policy and legislative framework.

The NRIMDC was established as requirement of the implementation of Right to Information to provide the leadership necessary to manage the government's information resources and maximize the contribution, efficiency, and effectiveness of government agencies in achieving our national vision.
