The site is hosted by the Office of the Right to Information Unit under the Department of Strategic Policy, Planning and Aid Coordination/ Prime Minister’s Office, with the assistance of the Office of the Government’s Chief Information Officer (OGCIO).
www.rti.gov.vu is online since August 3, 2017, the eve of the signing of the Ministerial Order that announced the first government agencies under the first phase of the RTI Implementation. It provides detailed information on all aspects of the RTI in Vanuatu.
Mr Nimbtik, presented the website to the guests including Government officials including DSPPAC, RTI Unit staff and OGCIO who have worked together to get RTI to its present stage.
The new website covers all RTI-related matters and is the first phase of further ICT development involving RTI. Areas covered include:
- General awareness on RTI
- RTI Law and Policy
- What is a government record
- What information is exempted under the RTI law
- what you can ask from a government agency
- RTI presentation for civil servants
- How you can ask the information
- which government agencies are covered under the RTI Act
The second phase will involve a monitoring portal - a designed that will set a platform for exchange and submission of online request. The website will also include a feature, where citizens will be able to ask questions and receive answers in 48 hours.
